Digital Spy Forums - Retro

Added by Emjay@userstyles, Created: Dec 17, 2013, Updated: Nov 21, 2015

This style reproduces, as closely as is possible, that of the original (pre-December 2013) DS Forum pages. It restores the original, more substantial, fonts, the colour scheme, layout, icons and buttons.

More info
Inspiration and support for developing this style comes from user "Paddy C" and his "Digital Spy - Old Look", large chunks of which were borrowed as the starting point. In particular, I have retained most of his page "tops and tails", which are completely reworked in the December 2013 version of Digital Spy. This Retro style concentrates on the middle section -- the lists, posts, searches etc., using archived pages in the Internet Archive as the models to rebuild the old designs.

Just two small features have proved (so far) impossible to reproduce, due to the way the DS site pages have been recoded. One is the use of alternating dark/light column colouring for the various lists. It's partially there, but some of the lists -- in particular the sub-forum list -- could not be fully recoloured.

The other is the chain of posts displayed below the edit window when creating a reply. Originally each post was slightly separated from the next. The new coding of this screen makes this now impossible, and they just run together.

Version information:

9 November 2015 - Version 2
Updated following new DS site design
-- Restored new black banner to the original colours
(or, at least, as near as possible)
-- Stopped the banner auto-expanding
-- Stopped the banner following you down the page

11 November 2015 - Version 2.1
Another tweak, following DS's latest batch of updates:
-- Yet again restored new black banner to the original colours
(DS now wrap it in an iframe pointing to a different domain)

18 November 2015 - Version 2.2
And another tweak:
-- Changed the "black flash" to a pale grey flash when changing pages

21 November 2015 - Version 2.3
Continuing to fight the sudden strange changes made by DS:
-- Re-enabled the horizontal scroll bar
